Membrane-Bound Thrombomodulin Regulates Macrophage Inflammation in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
Hua-Lin Wu

Abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is a chronic inflammatory process of the abdominal aorta. So far, Only two surgical modalities, open surgery and endovascular repair, have been established for the treatment of AAA. Although surgical treatment has become increasingly sophisticated, there remains an urgent need to detailed understanding of underlying mechanisms of AAA that predisposes to appropriate …

CO2 capture by kaolinite and its adsorption mechanism
Yen-Hua Chen

The cheap and commonly available clay mineral of kaolinite was studied for CO2 capture. The kaolinite was modified with acid treatments to improve its surface area and pore volume. The surface area and the porosity of the kaolinite increased with the increasing reaction time and concentration. It indicated that the surface area and the porosity of the acid-treated kaolinite were much better than …

Mechanism by which a LINE protein recognizes its 3′ tail RNA.
N. Okada

In 1996, our group for the first time showed that SINEs and LINEs share the same tail sequence at the 3’ end which forms a stem-loop structure. This provided the possibility that in the case of SINE amplification the SINE borrows the amplification machinery of LINEs. LINE encodes RT (reverse-transcriptase) and generally the RT recognizes the LINE tail for amplification to initiate …

Code-Switching Event Detection by Using a Latent Language Space Model and the Delta-Bayesian Information Criterion
Chung-Hsien Wu

This study proposes a new paradigm for code-switching event detection based on latent language space models (LLSMs) and the delta-Bayesian information criterion (ΔBIC). In the proposed approach, acoustic feature and AF posterior probabilities for each senone segment are first extracted and then transformed to the principal components (eigenvectors) in the eigenspace by using principal component …
