簡介： In order to meet the next level of challenges in this not-so-new century, we must cultivate a new generation of engineers, scientists, and other professionals who can think and create beyond the existing paradigms. Through transformative research and educational experiences that give them a systems and global perspective, these individuals should be able to bring scientific knowledge, technological skills, and a broad range of societal and judgmental factors to bear on our most daunting problems in environment, energy, health care, food, population, security, social justice, and the like. This requires substantial rethinking and refocusing of our mission and practices as educational institutions and academic leaders.
